The first truck is the one that we just bought this month, a '65 D300, the air filter is a NAPA Gold 2041 and just by accidentally shaking the air cleaner assembly I found out that the filter is TOO SHORT, and wouldn't you know it, when looking in there, there was obviously dust/dirt getting to the carb/engine, and this is on a brand new engine with 2000 miles on it, grrr!

Luckily the PO lived mostly down paved roads, but we live down 12 miles of dirt roads and this really p*sses me off, NAPA's just getting worse and worse all the time, can't handle their made in China junk anymore, and then they sell you an air filter that would oh so conveniently cause you to lose your engine...

Went to check the NAPA Gold 2020 in my trusty ol '63 D200, Joann, and the same sh*t, the filter rattles around, and I've put all kinds miles up and down these dusty roads with that one, and when I went to check it, same crazy BS, the filter just flops around in there, and of course there was dirt/dust buildup in the housing, on the wrong side of the filter...

Freakin NAPA, so damn sick of their parts that don't fit and their attitude... When I called the local NAPA store to ask him if he had a listing for the '65, he said "No, it had an oil bath". When I said this one didn't, he said the same thing they always say as soon as a part doesn't fit... "Well then somebody went in there and changed something" and it's not their books that suck, of course.

Few years ago, a NAPA counter dude tried to sell me the wrong axle gaskets for the Dana 60 in the '65 W200 I use to have. I looked at them and told him that not the right gaskets, he instantly tells me "Well somebody must have put the wrong rear end in there"... Get real! Went back another time with the wheel bearings just pulled out of the hubs on the Dana 44 front for the same, again they told me somebody "changed the axle" because their bearing books didn't jive with the parts on the counter. I finally just got my own bearing books and I buy all my bearing/seals from Brown Bearing, good guys... they never ever sell you the wrong stuff.

Anyway, sorry about the long rant, just wanted to warn others that those two filter numbers definitely do NOT fit correctly, and also wanted to ask anyone with paper filters in any '64 D200/'65 D300 have for part numbers in their trucks.

Much obliged,

Keith
