Ammeter, this is a current problem,.pardon the pun. This is in reference to the 71 that is going on ebay. When I bought it it wasn't charging. I checked the alternator and it was bad. I replaced the alternator and it still showed discharge. However when I went out to the alternator with my

Hey guys Johns thread was a cool thread. John it is a 71 with 2 field wires.
I just tried the lights with engine not running. It shpwed discharge just as it does when I am driving. Yet the battery stays up and charging by tester is up to 14.6.
Max mentioned the bolt bringing the two together for hooking up the volt meter. That would assume that the charging wire is active and not passing thru the existing gauge? Gordo
