Why in the h*** would ANYONE do, or pay, for all that work and NOT put hardened seats in?
I paid a shop $500+ for a total valve job on a poly in 97. They did not install hardened seats, even tho they deny it to this day. In 98, 8000 miles later, after constantly having to re-adjust valves cuz the lash kept disappearing, due to the valves sinking into the head, I finally figured it out when what was left of a seat fell out of the head and was hanging on the valve. Didn't run very good the rest of the way home! Somewhere around here I have photos of the head and a bag of valves and seats. Its pretty damn ugly, especially a seat that is about the size of electrical wire!
That was my experience with unhardened seats,.... NEVER AGAIN!
