after 30 + yrs of radiator repair,im saying due to age if nothing else your radiator is plugged, dont get worried about the overflow tank,it should cool just fine without one, remember just looking into the top of the rad dont mean its not plugged!take it to a rad shop,be prepared for a new core/rad due to age

QuotePwrWgnDrvr Trey, Ive dealt with the slip yoke seal this way: Unbolt the shaft from the rear axle, slide it forward to get the u-j out of the yoke, lift the shaft up and wire it to the frame, or once, I just took a ratchet tie-down from one frame rail - wrap around the shaft once - hook onto the other frame rail - ratchet down. Leaving it in the trans stops the leak, speeds up re-install an

interesting thread!! honeycomb cores can be recored! sounds like there is/was more than one style of heater core for these trucks,i can get one style new,i would have to have a detailed picture with measurements to be able to say if i can find that one new,or if not,i can recore it i just replaced the core in my 92 dakota, after 300,000 miles,it was plugged pretty good, and had a leak, the replac

full hyd keeps poping up in this thread, you do know that there is a solid connection from the steering column and the rack dont you?,the only thing hyd is that the rack has powersteering hoses hooked to it

terry there is a connection to the column, its NOT a hyd line, look at the picture where the lines hook to the rack on the drivers side, there is a shaft that hooks to the shaft there and hooks to the column on the other end,the problem being the shaft needs to have some kind of slide in it to compensate for the different length as the axle goes up and down

norm the steering shaft hooks DIRECTLY into the pinion on the rack, the hyd lines hook to the rack, look at rock auto or some other site with pictures, the "steering box" is all in one part of the rack besides,im way to dumb to post pictures here butch

QuoteMoparNorm Russ, the rack and pinion steering arms do not connect to the tie rods, those steering arms are connected directly to the wheel spindles. Very simple and effective. The steering box is the trick. Needs to connect to the Sweptline column and runs to the rack. There is no physical connection from the steering wheel to the rack, it's hydraulic...and that can be a problem as som

a couple of times in the last 30 yrs of rad repair ive seen loose impellers on waterpumps, they were working ok when cold, but loose and not pumping when hot,and i had one myself that the pump shaft actually slipped forward in the bearing/seal and ate the fins off of the impeller ,might be worth a good hard look!

so are we to presume you bought the triple pass copper brass rad and it didnt help?,i once had a 65 chevy impala ss ,327 4 on the floor,i had ac added, always ran hot with the ac on,not boiling over but close to the hot mark on the gauge, one time i was toolin down the road in oklahoma, looked down at the gauge and it was runnin cooler than it had been, then the ac started blowin hot, turns out the be

actually a aluminum rad with plastic tanks is not near as bad as it sounds, the aluminum part is pretty trouble free, the plastic tanks do wearout, stress crack, etc, but can easily be replaced, ive wondered about the multi pass copper brass jobs,id like a report when you get it installed and working,i wouldnt be surprised to find out the alum was cheaper than c/b,or at least about the same

i have no personal experiance with either, but, whichever way you go get the one with the largest sq inch of frontage,i take that back,i recored a volvo semi rad that was a four pass system!,as for louvered fins, they do cool better, but are nothing new,ive seen them as far back as the 60's,and very well could go farther back than that, take a close look at the fins on the rad youve got, they bett

is it loosing coolant(boiling over) when it runs at the high temp?,if not then the system is doing all it can do,and you need a different rad ,the aluminum jobs seem to be all the rave right now,and if you look around you can find one reasonablly priced now a story from my history............... way back in 69 or so i went on a trip from kansas thru oklahoma to texas, new mexico, arizona, colorado
