Never heard from anyone on D300. I sold my orange one to a guy in Indianna. will be restored. I should have sent this one down to you for paint! it is a long story but this one did not come out great. I will have it all fixed next year probably. for now it is shiny and drives liek a new truck. just gotta finish the small stuff. bumper. floormat etc.

On our 2000 dodge Caravan the tranny started doing similar things and I did a filter/Service and the problems went away. Then buddy called recenlty with a 2002 caravan and the tranny wouldnot work at all! I told him it was worth a try to cahnge the filter and fluid as no one probablly ever had and it cured it! the old timers say not to change the fluid but I ma convinced that these wimpy mo

Thanks for all the kind words. it is very nice to drive. Does anyone have an excellent license plate light lense or complete assembly for a Utiline? And see the one in the link I think it will work but not sure the guy wont send me the mounting screw measurement.

My crack pot theory is that before the wide boxes existed everything was a Ute. When the wide box came out it took over because you coudl haul more stuff and the new cool factor. more futuristic looking, and they hold up better. I will miss the utility of my flat bed but the nine footer is HUGE and will suit my needs for now. looks like first load will be 2 pallets of concrete stones for a wal

My brother has a 71 or so chev with a wide box that is almost nine feet. it was a factory option for campers. I think it has 4.88 gears too. they did it by adding to the front of the bed. looks fairly clean even with a seam. Ford had a nine foot stepside also. maybe the others too. Dodge had them for decades!

thsoe small dumpers are nice for gettting in and dumping gravel and not tearing up peoples driveways like the big rigs do.

The steps are all beat up. My plan is to shorten them and narrow them so they flow better. probably this summer I will get those done. it is very tall though for a 2 wheel drive for 2 reasons. First is has 19.5s that are around 34 inches tall. second the very heavy optional spring package keeps it up a ways. dwarfs an F250

crappy cell phone pic. digital cam died. still lots to do like make a floor mat, modify and re install rear bumper, license light, adjust doors, install takil gate and make custom latching system for it. Then unfortunately the painters did a real bad job so at some point a repaint will be in order. But it is shiny and drives great for now. People think it is a 4x4 then I tell them "nope

great to hear from you. sounds like a tricky business. It is really amazing waht can be done these days with the eyes. I hope they bring you back to 100%. Instead of Africa he could head to parts of CA that are in rough shape! Or Ohio, MI, IN, etc.

Yes it was considered heavy duty option when paper filters came into existence. I read an SAE study comparing the performance of oil bath v paper v cleanable types wet and dry. and in the end the oilbath and the paper socred the same andthe highest score but for diffferent reasons. The oil bath did a better job of filtering out certain types of very small particles than the paper did. they did

RE drums: I have not had this done to any yet but I was on the phone one day with John at Midwest Military and he told me about spray welding. He said spray welding drums to build them up and machine them down was not a problem. makes sense to me. I think the fromt drums onthe H&M truck will need that at the next brake job. i will go that route rather than tyring to find hens teeth.

you must have a 1 ton. there are multiple springs that were available in W300s. the 4K rears are the heaviest I believe. youu could find a set of 2050 rears in a D300. thne there are some other sets inbetween the 2050 and the 4K. Do you have rear shocks? on one of my d300s I added rear shocks and it made a HUGE difference in ride quality and control when empty. made the turck a real pleasure

I say there is a correct position as shown in the manuals and even in old napa parts books. the distributor is installed in a specific way so the vacuum advance unit does not hit the manifold when adjusting the timing, clips can be easily snapped, etc. you can move it around on some vehicles but that does not mean there in not a 'Correct" position. I have had to remove and reinstall ma

I dont know if I buy that theory. it makes sense but I have bought some old lady cars that only ran great at low rpms. Then took them on road trips and ran them hard at 80 plus and burned all the carbon out and then would run way better for years. at 40K real miles there would be no ridge regardless of how it was driven. Unless your talking fords then you would have a ridge.

Maybe during a rebuild it needed some rockers and they only had adjustables laying around. should be all non adj. That exhaust manifold is obviously more heavy duty than the type I have seen on my 100 and 300s so maybe the studs are standard on the -3 engines

cool, maybe you have discovere another difference between the A318-1 and the A318-3. different heads? do the exhaust valves have spinner plates underneath the springs?

what is have done on mine is adjust them to the point where they dont limit the RPMs anymore. I have never done it on any 60s trucks though. just old flatheads.

594. Re: test
it is a tricky color to take pics of. it looks different in every one. The color is not the factory Desert Turquoise but a custom color ordered for H&M when they bought the truck new. The painter had the paint guys at napa custom blend the color. now it is a code in the system. I will soon be posting more pics as I should have the bed mounted up in 2 weeks or so. Here is another for now

I have seen that video it is awesome. ther was some later versions built also. I think it would be an efficient design in some parts of the world, Alaska, siberia, etc. Hows it going Gordo? have not seen you post for a while. what is the latest project?
