1961 is different than all the later ones. it has a vent tube off the filler neck. they have to have non vented cap or the pressure in corners will blow fuel passed the vented cap. the tube in the filler neck allows the fuel topush hard against the cap because the tube lets atmospheric pressure into the tank. on the later trucks with vented cap there is less pressure behind the rushing fuel in

its been a long time since I replaced any hydraulic bell tranny mounts. I seem to recall they only go in one way? like there is a slight offset fore and aft to the bell housing stud and the cross member stud???????

my later sweptlines with vented caps don't build up pressure. vapor recovery is for emission control and mandatory from about 1975 and up.

take a vented cap and blow into the relief valve. it will release outward pressure. why do you think modern cars have vapor recovery systems because old tanks vented to atmosphere let fuel vapors out through there vented caps.

like Kiebert said there is a valve in there. it takes quite a bit of pressure to make it leak out so when the tank is sealed it wont come out in a right turn. but on my truck with the tube it allows the gas to push harder against the cap. I prefer the sealed cap and vent tube the 61s have. they never have fuel leaking down the cab problems

they also let off pressure. when weather is hot tanks expand. if I had a sealed tank it would be fine but when you have a vent tube AND a vented cap it spills on every right turn with a full tank.

last year I found the right gas cap for another 61 I had. I just bought another 61 and need another gas cap. Did I post the part number here? did anyone save it? I couldn't find it in the napa book this time. the 61s have to be non vented caps. they have a separate vent tube that comes out of filler neck then vents on passenger side. If I put a vented cap like later trucks have it will

I have to ask what for? better ride? you will lose stability with a load or towing and lose some turning radius.

you need on from a 67/68 truck with the spacer to move it away from firewall enough to clear the clutch master cylinder.

the best shock or strut I have ever used on anything is a Monroe gas magnum. makes old cars and trucks feel like brand new ones.

I ma just splitting hairs now. ;/) I replaced my blower with an aftermarket unit recently and wired it up orange to power and black to ground and it spun the wrong way! no big deal but annoying.

yes just one wire to the blower. and the power to switch wire is still the factory wire on mine and has spade connector end and is only long enough to reach the wiper switch.

but if you look at the 1962 manual page I posted above it shows the power source coming from what looks like wiper or ign. sw.. Also the ground wire grounds on the heater box not at the switch. the switch has power in and power out that's it.
