the only engines as smooth or smoother that I have had or driven is straight 8 Chryslers, Buicks, and Pontiacs. The factory idle setting for a Chrysler straight 8 is 325 rpms. :/)

on the brake line go to the gallery and look at some pics. the line needs to have some flex to it. on the W series and D300 and up series they used a short rubber line between master and frame. on the D100s and 200s they just coiled the steel line a bit and that gives it the need flex between body and frame. same thing applies to the clutch line

polys are very very smooth runner. I have found Chryslers factory balancing to be really good. I read a description on a D500 grain truck that was for sale by some farmer in Nebraska and the way he described the poly powered truck was "its the quietest piece of equipment on the farm." they tow like a big block too.

I love the LA 318 and LA360 but the poly just has a much wider torque band. Has to do with the way the heads flow. as soon as you let the clutch out the power is on. the blocks are way more HD as well. they can be bored .120 over! all the poly crankshafts are forged also.

good job saving another one! I like the small back window much better also. keeps the cab cooler too. the polys are hard to beat for torque and smoothness.

the parts stores don't sell the correct ballast resistor for our swepties. they will work but the stock version has a metal mounting bracket so when you bolt it in using the master cylinder bolts a longer bolt is not required. the parts stores are selling the later style that is all porcelain. I found that if I ask for a ballast resistor for a 56 dodge car I get the correct style. Durala

has about 500 miles on it now. I loaned to biz partner to go haul a 1 ton ford. tons of power. I put a larger than stock cam in from Delta in Tacoma. truck has dump installed so the cam makes it seem like there is no extra weight. my biz partner was amazed at how much power it had towing the pig of an F350 with 2 engines and 3 trannies in the bed. And the F350 has a lift gate. Was a b

I agree with the others. master is bad. the booster may not be long for the word now that brake fluid may have got inside. it will deteriorate the diaphragm.

where the screw under the rubber that holds the wing window in is there a clip that the screw threads into? or is it just screwing directly into to metal of the door? I put the wing windows back in before looking. actually forgot about that dang screw

the balancers came on the A318-2 and A318-3 engines I am fairly sure. the A318-1 did not unless in 300 series and up? that's a bit of a guess because my 61 with original engine has a A318-1 with a balancer. most trucks with polys have the A318-1

ha! you over did it for sure! But they are a tough thing. I have had 6K in my D300 with 3600 per spring rating in rear, single rear wheel 19.5s pumped up to 80 psi and it drove great. also had power brakes though too. thanks for sharing the Toyota story. They don't really build a truck. just a car with a box on the back. ;/)

most the W300s I see have the 4050 rear spring. the D300s there are multiple options starting at about 2050 on the rear and I have seen as high as 3600.

I have never seen springs with that high of a capacity on a 3/4 ton. those are higher than many of the one ton specs. maybe a special order?

I have a 66 headlight switch with plug and knob and want to trade for earlier switch with plug or I think the 61s had bolt on wires so would want 6 inches of the wire as well.
