i have used the chrome powder coat on a couple trucks. it doesnt hold up to the weather very well. it takes about 6 months before it looks more like bare cast aluminum.

there is a paint out now that is a 3 stage process that looks identical to chrome. good part is it costs about 1/3 what chrome does and can be touched up if you nick it. stuff is made by cosmichrome and is awsome

sounds like that one may have been an ordered truck. with the options it has, assuming they are factory, sounds like a guy with money sat down and said "build me this". about the same thing my crew long bed was. only one i have ever seen, crew or not, that had a factory installed bed side tool box and factory installed saddle tanks. you never know what dodge would do. love to be able to

i didint think eddy made a 650?? 500, 600, and 750 is what i have always heard. they go off the carb number to determine size, not sure what the specs would me to even try and mic one.

im speaking from real world experience, you will NOT gain 60hp just by adding a 4bbl. there has to be some other difference. that is approximately a 35% gain in hp, over a 1/3 increase in output. sorry you just don't get those numbers in the real world with nothing more then a carb swap. now, im not saying the rating on the 200hp wasn't low, or maybe the 260hp was a shade exaggerated

i got this in an email the other day and just thought it was too cool not to share... go hemi's!! DEFINITION OF ACCELERATION... There are no rockets or airplanes built by any government in the world that can accelerate from a standing start as fast as a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car! One top fuel dragster 500 cubic inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows of s

QuoteMoparNorm Keep in mind the list I posted comes from the Dodge Truck FSM, so all of those options were found in trucks, the cars had their own book and I'm not sure how they vary, because I have not seen a FSM for the cars. norm..if you have never seen the specs on a car, then how can you stick to the claim that the addition of a 4bbl is good for 60 more hp? trucks never had a 4bbl on

i havent heard any difference in them other then possibly tail shaft length. i dont even think there is a difference in the build. i know the bigger truck had huge coolers hooked up to them, but the valve bodies and clutches and such are all the same. i would think the only internal difference would be the torque convertor.

i think what he means is by signing into one site you should be able to get into both. paul, all you have to do on the other site is sign up, its free. 2 different people run the sites, although the content is the same or similar, the ownership and the way they are run is totally different. be like saying my wal mart card should work at kmart...lol

yes terry, i was referring to the first 100/200 series i have seen with a 361. they appear on the option sheets as being available in a 200 series truck, but as of yet i have not seen one factory installed.

i have heard people refer to the brownie box as a murphy box before. the basic secondary trans by any name. not sure i like the fender wells, but it looks like the W version of my D200. hd gauges, side trim wich is unheard of and according to the brochures "not available" on a crew cab, as well as the drip trim mentioned wich is also specifically stated as "not available" in t

its fun to think back. when i started here, my wife was still just someone who was fun to spend weekends with, didnt even call her a girlfriend yet. my daughter who graduates this year was still in grade school, and i only had 2 kids..lol. i was living out of a suit case traveling state to state for work, had no desire to ever be married, buy a house, or stay in one state. footloose and fancy fre

i was digging thru some old photos last night looking for a pic of my old 69 charger when i came across the pic of my very first sweptline. the date at the bottom was jan-2000... wow, 10 years ago, almost 11. it was within days i found this place and the sickness began. i cant believe how long its been. i still remember that old 66 and everything i ever did to it as if i had built it last week. m

a 600 is too big for a stock 318, la or poly, as they were built for our trucks. lots of guys run them, do your homework, you'll see the 500, (actually 460) cfm is perfect for the 318 in the operating range a stock engine is designed for. from my experience, they run cleaner, stronger, and are more responsive with the 500 over a 600-650. im stating this from memory, so pardon any minor fl

with the cars all being the hydrolic cam, one would have to assume the cam was indeed a different grind. i will never argue the poly would make 260hp, but from my experience, just bolting a 4bbl to a truck motor does not get you 60hp. a good hydrolic grind cam, some mild clean up on the heads, headders, elect ign, and a 4bbl would push you well beyond the 300hp mark pretty easy. its a great motor

bump up to a 3.54 gear out back, im assuming you have the more common 4.10s in that bad boy. unless your doing a lot of heavy hauling the 3.54 will do you very well and add to your mileage. you'll notice a slouch at the very low end, but it doesn't take long to get used to and the benefits outweigh negative side in my book. plus it will bump the highway cruise from 60-65 to 75-80, and t

a good guess would be one about every 18" plus the 2 end ones. never had that style trim off, but on my 66 with the big trim there were a lot of them bastards.

you talking 2bbl or 4?? the rochester 2bbl isnt any better then the carter bbd. the 4bbl is a spread bore design that i myself love. of course you can get a thermoquad thats the same design, or numerous aftermarket carbs that are the same design, only without the headaches of the factory design flaws. i have been tossing around useing a spreadbore myself on my la motor when the time comes. i used

jimmie has a great point. it wouldnt hurt to pull the valve covers and check it out. many of my polys have had the dredded sludge under the covers. but, before you do, go to the parts house and be sure they can get you the right valve cover gaskets. my truckl was down for 2 weeks while they fumbled around trying to get me the right part.
