my past has had clear coats turn yellowish when on an engine part that gets any heat. then its a real pain to strip it and re-polish the covers. a clear powder coat or clear anodizing would work best. personally it takes years for a good polish to wear off an aluminum valve cover. i would just polish the crap outta them and let it ride. maintaining polish is much easier and cheaper then anything

the fog is coming from an air leak. somewhere you are getting air blown in from outside that is in turn blowing across the inside of your glass making contact with the warm cab air and fogging things up. are your felts in good shape? hows the weather stripping? fender seals?

call up clifford industries. they sell numerous items that would make that slant motor out perform most v-8,s and still pull down nice numbers on the mpg. look around for a 225 power pack or scat pack i think they called it. it was a 2bbl or 4bbl carb, better cam, and split exhaust. there is no replacement for displacement when your making power, but there is a lot of options on the 6 banger. i o

yeah im referring to the 66, the 65 crew, and the 66. my 69 and 70 was all electric, they didn't even have a mechanical gauge for those years. russ roth, i priced the braided stainless on my last one. after i quit gasping for air i decided if the plain rubber lasted 40 years that was good enough for me. not to mention todays rubber lines are far superior to what they had when the truck wa

any decent hydraulic shop can remake the hose. i have had numerous ones made. tractor shops have done the best job for me. no the ends are not exactly factory, but they thread on and seal just like they are supposed to. the last one i had made had about 2" of hard line on the block side before being crimped into the rubber line, on the gauge side i chose a 1" long hard line to get it ba

you know jimmie i made that very argument years ago and everyone practically laughed at me. i put a new distributor in my first 66 with a fresh set of accell points and condenser and an accell yellow coil with taylor 8.8mm wires. i did not tune it or touch the ignition system for 3 years after that. fired every day, got me where i needed to go, and never once had a hiccup.

no, what i meant is mine says 5qts w/filter, so you put in the 5qts, run it a bit to fill the filter, then take a measurement. it may say 5.5 it may be 6 7 or 8, what ever the specs for the vehicle the pan came off of is what you need to be going by and take into account any changes in filter size. i always run the ph977a filter, its a shade over twice the size of the standard recommended one, so

the differences in qts is due to the different filters and pan capacities. i had a 360 that took 7qts. it had the big pan and the big filter. filter alone held a qt. you just got to know what your pan came off of and if you have the standard filter or high cap one. norm, thats why i said to run the truck before marking to be sure the filter is full and everything is settled out "as run&qu

you know i saw an ad somewhere that petronix is starting to make complete systems... any truth to this?? i always had great luck on stock trucks with the pet drop in system on a fresh distributor and an accell yellow coil or msd blaster. i like the simplicity, i like that if it did go out, you could drop your points back in to get you home, and you could paint the coil to appear stock under th

what i have done in the past is put in the appropriate amount of oil, starting from an empty pan, run it a bit, then let it settle. then you remark the dip stick you have and just go from there.

i wont argue the crap you often times get thru the chain stores doesn't measure up. but in my past, OEM, chain store crap, or aftermarket performance parts... i have always had issues with failing box's on both ford and mopar. ford was always real bad about the pickup coil in the distributor crapping out at the most inconvenient moment as well. maybe its just me, but in all my cars i ha

well, i have a very nice 70 adventurer d100, but for some reason its just not doing it for me. i prefer the 68 and below trucks, i like the dash better, the hoods are cooler, just my personal preference. in any case, i cant get fired up to do anything with this 70, and its bugging me. so id like to swap it for an older truck in comparable condition. ideally i would love to have a 66 d200 with a p

i have to argue here. not being a "mopar only" guy i have used many types of ignition over the years. the gm hei in my opinion and experience is far superior to the ford or mopar units. its not that the spark is any hotter, its not an rpm range thing, its simple reliability i refer to. i have had numerous fords products, numerous Chrysler products, and almost every gm make they have.. t

there is a guy here in town with a 63 thats running an after market hydrolic master with a stock slave. its the small body aluminum jobby with plastic resovior. i didnt have much time to talk to him, he was in a bigger hurry then i was, but it looked like a simple barrel fitting to convert flare sizes and 4 new holes in the firewall. might be a cheaper and much easier way to keep these old rigs r

145-150psi is what i was getting on my chitty that i know was a 8.5to1 motor that i shaved 10 off the heads on. i dont know the math, but the 7to1 blower motor i helped on was only pulling 130-135psi. both were 355cid, so i may just be blowing hot air here, but the psi your getting seems a bit high for such a low compression to be accurate. btw, my 10to1 440 was pulling 165-168psi, and my stoc

norms right, the circuit goes thru the ampmeter. if its bad you wont get a full charge. if its shot you wont get current thru the circuit at all. you can simply uncork the wires from the back of the gauge and wire them to one another, wrap in tape and be good to go if it is your problem. but they also go thru the headlight switch and dimmer switch, i have had both give me nightmares in the past.

Quotegaryo Only one company in the US that offers comsmichrome, they are in Cleveland. whether its that brand name or not, i have no idea, but there is a cycle shop and 2 body shops in my town that do this very process. seen it in person and watched them coat some items. its a very cool process.
