QuoteMoparNorm So there was a CAMP DODGE, it just had only ONE Sweptline...ha! ha! Ummh, there were actually two as I also was there with the PW although I did not see Robin. Robin has done a good job with that for sure.

I've been to Firm Feel and met Dick Ross. He took me through the shop, showed me his cars and what they are doing there. Seemed like a good, fair, honest operation and has pretty good name over on Moparts as far as I can tell. I wonder if they just could not get new parts to do a proper repair? Walt McIntosh did mine over in MT and it has been good for over 40,000 miles. I don't se

You guys ought to be there watching it get crushed. Now that's painful. It evens bothers me when I see stuff from any other brand go into the crusher that someone needs somewhere. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot I can do about it.

Bigger hammer. Sorry, saw this and just couldn't resist. I haven't worked on one of those since the late 60's so not much help.. I do recall it being a real booger and I got rid of that unit for a D60 as soon as I could on my meager income at the time.

I pretty much agree with you Terry. I think it should include all of this body style since they obviously have the same roots.

I think the sweptside's were the the models with the station wagon sides. I am pretty sure I have seen sweptline used in some of the 50's advertising I have seen. It can get a bit confusing since the terms are so close. Like I said above my '73 was called a sweptline and it darn sure didn't look like these rigs. I was very surprised to find these rigs were called sweptline

Terry, I have seen advertisement prior to '61 using the sweptline term and my '73 W200 LWB was called a sweptline box. I may still have the brochure from it in my file at home.

The Sweptline name has been used prior to and after this era but it has become(in my mind at least)to specifically denote the body style/years indicated by Kyle. It's Sweptline era but not a Sweptline, IMHO.

Jerry, Mine were split and cracked like that. I spanned the area across the 2 screw holes with some flat bar aluminum I had and glassed them in with a bit of fiberglass mesh and resin. It has been that way for 10 years and over 40,000 miles and have had no trouble with them coming apart yet. I thought the screws went into the door frame but someone above said they don't. Guess my fix

I can't answer that as far as the pickup line goes but the car line springs had a similar Teflon pad on them. I say similar because I think they only had one hole to hold the pad in place. I could even be wrong about that.

Could it be to run to the exhaust manifold? I know some rigs run heat off the manifolds to help cold start running.

QuoteGordo I have put in a few. I had zero prior experience and I gotta tell ya, I didn't find it easy. I don't recommend it to those who can afford the professional. I didn't break or crack any, but I held my breath when I smacked them with the palm of my hand. Gordo From my experience also----That's extremely good advice.

QuotePwrWgnDrvr He's in Lost Crutches NM. Here's how u install a windshield: 1. Go to JY and buy the old weathered, pitted one for $50 2. Order new gasket from restoration specialties 3. When the gasket arrives, pick a day and spend a few hrs dicking around, trying to get the windshield installed. 4. When u finally crack it down the center, call the local shop, take them the new g

I put stainless bolts in my tailgate pivot just like those too. I also put never seize on them so I could get them out in the future real easy. Nice rig you have. 'bout time. Your daughter is a real cutie. Musta got that from Mom! She looks a lot like my granddaughter.

QuoteHobcobble For servicing the semi & full floating rear axle bearings, re-pack them with short fiber wheel bearing lubricant. Pack the hub as well, per the FSM. John That's what it says all right. They are eventually lubricated by the rear axle gear oil but they initially need to be greased when putting them back in.

I had an army bud that lived in Uniontown on Wright Rd until a couple years ago. We had a pig roast at his place in 2002 that I attended. He moved to another small town not far away so apparently still in the neighborhood.

Mine's on the shift lever. Way better than the dash. I drove my buddies like that once and didn't like it much. I do have a TC lock up switch that I added and can manually lock the converter anytime I want.

You have no idea how common that is on later rigs like my Ram. I clean grounds about every 6 months (even with die-electric grease) to keep the torque converter from doing the lock/unlock thing. I did discover by accident I could move the wire coming off the alternator and it accomplishes the same thing. That usually is an indication of a problem inside the alternator but I have not had any cha

Russ, I've had a parking brake cable break on a near new rig. I carry a block and use it a lot of times myself because of that. But then, I'm not a very trusting soul.

I moved the equipment in Tuesday to crush Stayton AW again. I pulled in by the yard and noticed a swepty hood leaning up against something. We parked the rig and Roberto hauled me down to Goshen to get the crusher. When we got back several hours later to unload and set the crusher I made a point to go check the hood out. It had some pretty nice PW emblems and was a '68 hood. I tracked Dennis

QuoteJimC Amazing.....how do you drive something everyday and not know what the @#$%^ you are driving??????????????? I don't know or understand that either, but you can ask my wife. She is about as clueless as they come and chooses to not know or care about a vehicle except that it gets her there reliably. My Dad was kinda like that.

QuoteMoparNormRuss, thanks for the Big Rig info, the one big advantage of the new 8 speed is that it's an automatic, the driver just drives and the transmission does the work... They are attempting to even do that in big rigs. The outfit my brother works for (and I used to part time)bought 110 new '07 Macks with 10 speed auto shift trannies in them. I never drove one since I never

QuoteMoparNormI agree, 10 speeds may not be the answer, but 18 speed OTR diesel trucks have 18 speeds, don't they... Some probably do but not many. They are mostly 10 speeds now. The low side gears are to get going. You are not very often below 7th gear unless you are starting out or on a pretty hard pull. I get down into 6th or 7th gear on Satus and Mt hood when I am pulling an A trai

I wouldn't think it would be very tough to lengthen a bed for someone with that kind of experience. That's just MHO though and it it's worth what ya paid. I have some pictures somewhere of a 300 with an 8' bed. The fella that owned it was a fabricator type and had filled the gap between the cab and bed with a combination headache rack/fuel tank. Looked pretty good done
