On my Poly 318 (believe it’s a 318-3, early 60’s), it is missing the dowel pins that extend from the block and help locate/align the timing cover. There is a slight oil leak because of this that is constant when the engine is running. 1/4 machinist’s quality dowels are a little loose; can push them

yes they should need tapped in. is there a size larger by a 64th? are the 1/4 inch you have made in china and under sized?
