On my Poly 318 (believe it’s a 318-3, early 60’s), it is missing the dowel pins that extend from the block and help locate/align the timing cover. There is a slight oil leak because of this that is constant when the engine is running. 1/4 machinist’s quality dowels are a little loose; can push them

Good idea. I will see if they are staying put. If not I will take a center punch and "disturb" them a bit, and also put sealant on them.
