On my Poly 318 (believe it’s a 318-3, early 60’s), it is missing the dowel pins that extend from the block and help locate/align the timing cover. There is a slight oil leak because of this that is constant when the engine is running. 1/4 machinist’s quality dowels are a little loose; can push them

The machinist I consulted said he was not aware of pins available that were slightly over, for example 1/64 like you suggested.
I wonder, if they don’t stay in place in spite of the varnish, that I’ll lift the front of the engine up enough to tap the holes for bolts.
