Comments: I have a NP 540 and i need a adapter spacer pto for it due to it being too close to my transmsssion to clear a crossmember, I can not find a part number for this can you research this adapter and pto for me so i can buy one from one of your dealers?? Thanks





Thank you for your request. The standard New Process 540 transmission (there were several variants with different designations such as 540FO, 540C, 540GD as well as just the NP-540) has both a right side (passenger side) PTO opening as well as a left side (driver side) opening. The left side opening appears to always have required a geared adapter between the PTO and the transmission. Therefore, I will assume that you are looking for an adapter to space the PTO out on the right side. Unfortunately, Muncie has never produced a geared adapter in the gear cut that would be required for the right side. Although it is difficult to say for sure, I can find no evidence that any other PTO manufacturer made an adapter for that opening either. The Muncie PTOs available for the left side include standard TG models as well as the RG series if both forward and reverse are required, however, due to the size and rotation speed of the gear in the transmission, all PTO units available on the left side will have fairly low output speed percentages.
