I raised the bed about an inch or so higher than it was originally. One thing I figured out about the utiline beds is the spacers between bed and frame were anyhere from 1/4 inch to 1.5 inches depending on what year. they will not be as noticeable after the running boards are installed. I am going to put on custom running boards as I think the stock ones look funny on the D300s with SRW. On the W they are necessary just to get in!
