hard to tell I dont think they ever did though. my 62 has them also. maybe they make a speaker now days small enough and flat enough to mount there that sounds good.

My 62 says S318 1313353. but it has hydraullic lifters and harmonic balancer so thought it was a -2 or -3? how does mine translate?

Installing the lower hinge cover plates on my 61 today and noticed that there are screw holess at each corner of the opening. They are not used as the cover plate is held on by one screw in the center? what are the other holes for?

Like HObcobble said that is the way they came. you could even order the large knuckle 44 front axle in the 1/2 tons as well. Dodge had not conceived of the idea of wimpy 5 lug axles until 69. they tried wimpy stuff back in 1939 and1940 and quickly realized size matters in 4x4s an upgraded to monster size assemblies.

I am curious also. My 1995 Dakota 4x4 had a regular steering box, no rack. maybe they are talking 2 wheel drive Dakota? I would never put a hydraulic only system like that on a 4x4, those lines look way to vulnerable to damage offroad.

Quoteoldmopar They were made in 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive versions. " By "they" do you mean Power Wagon or Power Giant? There is no such thing as a 2 wheel drive Power Wagon. But I learned something new from you guys about the single lever set up. thanks

Possibilities: 1. WE cant see the other lever 2. someone installed a 69 or later NP205 Tcase with the single lever shifter set up 3. Dodge offered a 1 speed tcase, although I ahve never heard of or seen one. I know ford did in their 1/2 tons in the 60s and 70s 4. ????????

Yes All Power Wagons are 4 wheel Drive. 315 would be correct and probably a 4 speed though sometimes u see a 3 on the tree. 1957 is the first year for a Dodge civilian body style Power Wagon. teh Miltary style power wagons were built from 1946 until sometime in the 1970s. Looks nice in the pic. the 1957 thru 1960 trcks are also known as teh power Giant Era. There are forums dedicated to the

I think they are on the right front frame rail. I have never had to find one on a swepty. I think you have a 63 that was originally a poly and someone put an LA in at some point. you have one of the heavier spring sets in that truck so it should haul real heavy loads no problem.

Lookin good ! at the registry if you go enter your VIN it decodes to a 1963 truck. so title is wrong and engine was transplanted or cab was set on a later chassis. check frame numbers to be sure.

You have the rare heavy duty gauge package in that one too. 383 should run realood. does it have 8 lug axles in it? 68 and earlier W100s did but the 69 and later went to the 5 lug set up. Iwould keep it and resurect it. looks liek it jsut needs a goo cleaning and full lube job is probably in order. Congrats on the acquisition

the raios on the W300s were 4.88 or 5.87. Now we know he is going with the spicer 70 in the back things will be easier. I would go with the 70s front and rear out of a W300. then go with 5.87s and 20 inch rims and a brownie with OD. ;/)

the only chnage I made was teh style of brake light switch. The original had bullet connectors and i had an english car style one with the screw type connectors and went with that. Even the Voltage regulator has the "Forward" Era logo on it. had to change the heater hoses and the original vacuum hoses were all hardened. Cant wait to start driving it. Still waiting for the bed parts

YOu got it on the clutch line. I think all the one tons and up run the rubber line. more heavy duty than a loop. on the brake switch the 61s did not have a mechanical switch. a carry over from the PG era.

That sucks! good luck with the recovery. I take some risks like that sometimes also. I have been working alone a bit lately so have been being more cautious. I actually have safety glasses in my truck now and use them most the time ;/)

Run GL4 in the trans and Tcase if 4x4, and run it in diffs if they do not have clutch type limited slip spools. that is what the book calls for. GL5 is for limited slip type differentials and why it exists. I have run GL5 in open diffs before and noticed it tends to thin out more with heat than the GL4 does. my 61 has lock waahers on the ujoint straps.
