The factory stuff I bought from the above link was mixed, placed in the can with the hardener in a separate internal container that you break and shake to mix when ready to use. They sell the factory paint in all sizes from spray cans to 5 gal buckets. Also have clear coat in spray.

No Gordo. The bell crossmember is torched out for an auto and a different crossmember installed further back. then u have to figure out shifter linkage, radiator and more. Better to sell the damn truck as is and retire!

QuoteBart K Is there any way to tell if the manual transmission in the truck is what is supposed to be inthe truck? The vin plate states what came in the truck originally. What was the original tire size? What is today's size I would replace with? How many 1966 Dodge trucks were 1/2 ton Step Side? I believe I have a Canadian 318 engine in the truck, here is my VIN 1181643428 ho

The straw example is incorrect Steve. Atmospheric pressure is what keeps the liquid IN, gravity is what lets it out. As Mark said, and Ive tried to explain previously, your vented tank will NOT be the cause of fuel leaking thru a vented cap. There is some other unidentified issue that u are dealing with.

You're missing the most critical part of this. When fuel is pumped out of the tank to run the engine, it will create a HUGE vacuum in the tank, which will collapse the tank by atmospheric pressure on the exterior. That is why ALL TANKS MUST BE VENTED, by some method or another. Its just basic physics. Expansion pressure from gas or fumes is insignificant compared to the vacuum pressure diff

QuoteKlebert L. Hall If it never lets gas pressure out, then answer me these two questions: Why, on hot days with a full tank, do I hear gas venting out of the cap? Because your gasket is bad and it is seeping there, not the vent. Why is the interior of the cap spring loaded like a radiator cap, if it is not indeed expected to work exactly like a radiator cap? The spring is to only al

Every swept Ive driven since 78 with a vented cap does NOT let pressure OUT. Ive got more than 500,000 miles in more than a dozen swepts up, down and cross country. On a hot day, remove the cap and pressure whumps out around it on opening. If u have fuel coming out around the cap, u have a bad cap or a bad gasket or filler neck causing a bad seal. Seen that many times over the yrs. There is no

U guys are mixed up. The "vented cap" NEVER lets pressure OUT! That's why it doesn't leak gas. There is nothing that "builds pressure" that needs to be released. Hot day pressure is insignificant and not an issue that needs to be addressed. The only reason a tank MUST be vented is to allow air IN as gas is pumped out. Otherwise, the vacuum created will collapse the

If they let air pressure out, how do they NOT let gas out on a right turn? If that truly is the case, then just plug the vent tube on your tank.

I don't think so Steve. Vented caps only let air IN, not OUT. The purpose is to keep a vacuum from forming and the tank collapsing as fuel is pumped out. The vented cap has a check valve in it so fuel cant come out.

I had a 361 with a 4V manifold on it. Sold it to a buddy earlier this yr. Don't remember the part # on the manifold, but it does cross with another engine, which I also don't remember. Pulled the 361 out of a 66 D300 (transplant)

Too bad it is missing the original seats and carpet over the gas tank. The console is original CSS eqpt - DO NOT DISCARD! Go to cssregistry.com to learn more. Ben, the owner of the registry is a 20 yr member here. I ran your vin thru the registry decoder and your truck is a 64, NOT 63. The gun rack is aftermarket junk. The tie downs on the bed also aftermarket junk.

Sandpaper on the paint will show the various layers of paint. No id plate will show the color. The SERT sticker indicates the truck is a CSS. They are rare and special. If the seats are still the original buckets, they are very valuable, as is the console. Most trucks have nothing special on them, so few trucks have SERT stickers. The truck would have had a poly 318 originally.

It appears u have a CSS truck, which is quite rare. Post up some pics of the entire truck, inside and out! Go to the registry linked above and decode your vin and visit cssregistry.com for more info.

Yup, that looks like what I can see in my junkyard pic of a 61. Was probably an option on the PG trucks and carried over to 61.

It is not the same as my 59 D500, which looks to be the same as a pic I have of a 60 D100. They are just a knob screwed to the door to pull it open. How about just finding a later door and swapping?

Just looked at a pic I took of a 61 in a junkyard. Glove box door is open, but the latch on the inside appears to be a twist type. Sure doesn't look like the normal swepty latch. My 62 has a normal latch.

Yes, to be original, the inside side panels would need to be swapped. But, a good fabricator could cut the small window's inner side panel to make a filler that would work, without replacing the entire panel. The outer part welds in simply as a filler to the large window frame.

Haven't done it all the way through, but have removed the various parts to do so. I have a 61 project that the PO removed the small and installed a big. I don't like the big, so intend to convert back. Its at the spot weld stage, where it waits motivation to finish. Yes, there are more panels than just the filler at the sides. IIRC, it requires a different panel underneath, and some

The rod from the pedal has a bend at the end that goes thru the hole on the carb, then a clip snaps on to hold it in place. No bushing.

I put the stock oil bath filter on that carb on my 62 W300. Found a pipe with the exact id as the carb rim and used about 3" to lift the filter above the carb. Extended the retainer bolt with a coupling nut and piece of all thread. Wing nut holds the entire thing in place. Its been working excellent since 1986!
