I picked up a somewhat negative attitude toward the Demon from Consumer Guide but that's not unusual for them. There was not one positive statement about the car, which , IMO, looks better than any of the other cars that they mentioned. I hope it does get produced and sells well.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you got a decent truck to start with there. From the looks of the steering shaft the truck might have been converted to a later model front axle and steering box. In my opinion that's a good thing. Check to see if the front axle has disc brakes. You are ahead of the game if it does. Another thing to check is the fuel line under the tank. My 69 truck has a sho

One thing about the truck that caught my eye was the running boards. The passenger side is pretty good and the gas tank is the driver side running board. I've never noticed one like it but I haven't paid too much attention to the bigger trucks. It doesn't have the round guages but probably does have the oil guage in the panel. I didn't look that closely at the interior due to

That's a nice truck with some good options, like a/c, round guages, and bucket seat. It will be interesting to see how much it goes for. It's got some heavy duty looking winches for a truck that doesn't appear to have been off road very much.

I don't think you should have to play forum cop, and I wouldn't want to see anyone banned or threads locked. I would just like for the people here to think about what they are saying before they post it. Theres no need to get into an argument and keep a thread going when you don't agree with the original post, and definitely no need to try to make someone else look foolish or stupi

I didn't feel stupid. I thought the responses to my cranking post were though. What I meant when I said I wouldn't put up with it is that I just won't read threads that get argumentive and mean. I come here for comraderie and to talk with folks with similar interests, mostly Sweptline owners. When it stops being fun I'll just go away. As I said before, I don't need it.

Jason, I like your truck. Wonder why, LOL. Here's a pic of my first W100. Yes, I agree, get rid of the camper. I sold it the first week I owned this one. This is from about 1982.

Really folks, does anyone think that anyone will change their ideas about this topic? I haven't expresssed my opinion about it and probably won't ever again express an opinion on any controversial topic on this forum. It seems that lately the forum is mostly made up of criticism rather than conversation among friends. The enjoyment of the forum is being drained away by people who make f

I was visiting relatives this past weekend and spotted this D600 that looked like it had been forgotten about. It just spoke to me and said it needs a new owner who will appreciate it, LOL. It was a NC state truck and only has about 55K miles on it, and as usual, "was running when parked". It has a 318 engine and the bed hydraulics work fine I'm told. It's in North Carolina, a

This time we went to a different dealer, Landmark Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. At least we got a friendly reception and the salesman acted like he wanted to sell me a car. They had only three new 2009's with automatic but none were equipped very well, and none in the color we want. My 2001 Limited Edition has four wheel disc brakes, but every one on the lot today had rear drums. He gave it a good sh

It looks to me like someone got a good deal but if Gordo is satisfied then I guess two people are happy. I thought it would have brought more than $2550, and it probably would if it had been on the opposite coast.

I've never suggested this before but maybe this one should be locked and everyone go back to their corner and relax. It's obvious to me that Max and I, and apparently many others here, have very different opinions about trucks, money, and politics so rather than make people mad I'll just say that it's time for this to end. I'm not sure how it got to that from "I pu

Gary, Back in the day when this truck was new camping was the national pasttime it seems. Lots of trucks were sold just for that purpose. There were many options to make a camper fit a particular truck and those slide out bumpers were fairly common. Not so much on half ton trucks but usually on Camper Specials and other 200's.

The 440 is mostly stock with the exception of an RV cam, Edlebrock Performer intake, and an Edlebrock 1411 carb, all from Summit. I didn't build it to be a dragster, I just wanted a smooth idle and ample low end torque, something that would be fun to drive. It's a little higher than stock due to the Rancho springs on the front and extra leaves in the rears, but there's no kind of l

106. Actually,
I've had some decent offers of swaps, but not for what I want. Some of the offers probably would have been good if they had been what I want. I've been offered a motorcycle which would probably sell for more than I'm asking for the truck, and a "show quality" restored 69 Chevy pickup. I also got an email from someone with a 2001 Dodge truck that wants to trade for my tru

JimC, yes, I was at Hayes in Lawrenceville, where I've bought new cars before. They have several dealerships in North Georgia but won't have any if they dont' get something changed. I hate to see it come to this.

After I asked him, he did say that there would be 2010 models built, but he didn't seem interested the least bit in selling me one. He didn't ask me if I would be willing to order one, or offer to take my name and call me when he got one in. Most all they had on the lot were Town and Countries, four door pickups, and some Jeep models. I guess when he found out that I wasn't interes

I love our 2001 PT Cruiser. I think it's about the most roomy, versatile small car you can get. It's got about 113K miles on it now and I want a new one before they stop making them. A few days ago I was ready to buy one and drove over to my local dealer and asked about a new one. He said he didn't have any and didn't know how long it would be before he would get some. He did

Thanks to you guys who have commented positively about my truck. I'm beginning to feel a little like Rodney Dangerfield, I am not getting any respect from certain individuals who have joined this forum recently. I have been here since the first Sweptline forum about ten years ago and posted many times since then, and never been called dumb, stupid, or illiterate before. Now, within the l

I was going to ignore that post but since you responded I'll add my comments. I have done every bit of the work on this truck myself with the exception of block and head work. I spared no expense in doing it just like I wanted it. I've got a file of receipts and haven't actually added them up, but I know that I've spent about the $17K that I mentioned in the ad. I've done

Trey, It can't be a fleetside 56 Ford. They didn't start that until 57. If it's a real 56 with big back window That's exactly what I want so I would be interested. I would either have to sell mine and buy his or he would have to pay some difference. I don't have room for two trucks so can't make a package deal.

I had one offer to trade for a motorcycle. From the pic of the cycle it probobly would have been a fair trade. I just don't want a motorcycle. I don't really expect to sell it through CL. It seems like everyone who checks CL out here is only looking for cheap stuff or something they can get for half price. I'm the same way when I check CL, LOL.

Trucks are like women, I always want a different one, LOL, so I will see if anyone wants it enough to give me what I'm asking for it. I was just joking about the women thing, I've been married (happily sometimes) for 44 years to the same lady. Here's a link to the ad which has a link to VillagePhotos with some pics. I know I will be sorry if I sell it, but I want a new (older) toy.

I can vouch for the quality of Gary's gloveboxes. I have one in my truck and it fits and looks perfect. I does come with the metal clips installed so it's a quick and easy install.

My FSM has a supplement for trucks in which the last six digits of the s/n start with 100,001 and 300,001. It does have the diagram for the electronic voltage regulator as used with the isolated field alternator. The diagram show the field wires to be (1) green and (2) blue with white tracer. The blue/white wire connects to the ignition side of the ballast resister, along with a red (I presume) f

I believe Gordo meant that to get a paint job of similar quality to the one on the truck would be in the $1800 to $2200 range at a paint shop. He doesn't actually have that much in it. Terry (pwrwgndrvr) is correct when he says Gordo sells good trucks cheap. You should have seen the grey all original Utiline that he sold on Ebay a few months back. It should have brought at least double what

I was just down visiting my son in Savannah, Ga this past week. He said many of the dealers in Savannah will still take the "clunkers" but refuse to destroy the engines and have them crushed until they get paid for them. They are skeptical of when and if they will get their money for them. I don't know how they get around the paperwork, maybe they lie, or I mean stretch the truth a

I've been away from the forum for a week, Glad to be back. Gordo, I've never sold a vehicle on Ebay but have sold some other things that I wanted to get rid of. I just put what I'll take for it, considering packing and taking it to Fedex, and put that as a starting price. It seems like you are willing to take what I consider a low price for that truck, ($2600) so I would make th
