any decent hydraulic shop can remake the hose. i have had numerous ones made. tractor shops have done the best job for me. no the ends are not exactly factory, but they thread on and seal just like they are supposed to. the last one i had made had about 2" of hard line on the block side before being crimped into the rubber line, on the gauge side i chose a 1" long hard line to get it back off the gauge panel a bit. in any case, i figured the high pressure rubber lasted for more then 40 years of abuse, why reinvent the wheel. i would not, not, not use any type that simply clamped on, you will wind up with a mess sooner or later when it comes loose. you need the hydraulically crimped end on there.
as far as the copper lines go, i have also used these with great success as well. not just on my dodges but also numerous hot rods. you can buy a copper line kit at any decent parts store, i got my last one from autozone. as mentioned by someone else i too run a stretch of vaccume line over the copper... one to hide it, and 2 to help reduce any rubbing it may get going thru the fire wall. i always run a loop, similar to the brake tubing at the back of the block as a flex point for torque, and under the dash i run (for lack of a better term) a zig zag pattern that allows me some extra slack to remove the gauge face far enough to unscrew the line.
