Just switched my plan. Heads will be the 302 swirlport with bigger valves. See my post on hardened seats. I found a pair cheap. Fish

Ive just located a set of the 302 swirlport heads. The 302s were used on 85-90 pre magnum 318 engines. I think the safest bet is to go with these after talking to everyone. The swirlport has the heart shaped combustion chamber that will raise my compression. Ill put bigger valves in them, do a little port work, they already have hardend seats. Mopar perf. says that these heads will bump up ho

Head casting no. is 2465315 This is the very early 273 head. It will bolt on a 360 and work. I have posted this on moparts.com and guys have said that they have bolted on later intakes with no problem. The owner of the heads said he had a Eldy RPM intake and Eldy torquer on them with no problems. He did the porting himself. He had the heads with 360 on a 63 plymouth that ran 13.70s in the qua

Im getting my 360 tomorrow. Its from a 1988 powerwagon and is a 4bbl motor. The project will happen this winter. At that time I will pull my tired 318 and see just what kind of flywheel I have and either find a 360 to match or drill the holes. Plans for the motor are ealy 273 heads that are closed chambered with 360 valves, bigger 340 cam, Carter AVS or AFB 4bbl, headers. It going to be l

Guys, I have a chance to buy a set of heads that would work well on my new 360. They are early 273 heads that have been ported and now have 360 valves in them. The big advantage on these heads is that they are closed chambered. This would really give the low compression 360 needed umph. They were gone over just one year ago. Price is $300 only for the pair. My only concern is the guy didn

My truck is a 65D100. I know it is supposed to go 90 degrees, just not sure if it is supposed to stop there also. Mine goes past 90 and will touch the drip rail. Normal? Any fixes? Fish

Well, another small mishap. The rear nuts that are welded in my hood finally let loose and pulled out sending the rear corner of my hood up about 2 feet. This happened when I shut the hood just after I replaced a bad fuel pump that left me stranded in a parking lot!!! I had to pull the whole hood to get home. Man that hood has to be the heaviest hood ever made in the history of the automobile.

Eddie, Sorry I jumped in so soon with wrong info. I didnt know the bell housings would interchange. I would stick with a small block also, 318 would be the easiest. Very easy to work on, easy to get parts, Millions of them made, Makes good power. I have a very tired 318 (1973 version) in my 65D100 and it still pulls my cuda and farmall without much difficulty. It has your 4 speed in it

Eddie, I think your out of luck. A bell housing from a V8 is different bolt pattern than a slant 6. Big block V8s are differnt from small block V8s also. I dont know about the motor mounts. This swap shouldnt be that hard. Someone on this site will post more details. Good luck. Fish

Im just going to have to compare flywheels side by side if I buy a aftermarket one. Then I will know. I really dont want to drill my original flywheel if I dont have to. Fish

Will a modern starter bolt in my 65D100 with hydro. clutch? I have what I think is the direct drive starter. My reasoning is this. If a modern starter will bolt in and work with my original flywheel then the chances of a modern aftermarket flywheel working are greater If I do the 360 swap. Can anyone tell me what diameter flywheel my truck would have and how many teeth? I found out t

Hobcobble, isnt another option to buy a MoparPerf new balanced flywheel? As long as its 10.5 inches and the same amount of teeth, wouldnt it work even with a hydro cluth? I will call brewers performance Monday. Fish

the flywheel I need is 4529110 mopar perf. part. Its $270 new. Jeggs had the wrong picture for that part no. Summit had the pic. with the holes in it. The magnum series 360 takes a different flywheel thats amost 100 bucks more. So Its buy a new flywheel or have mine drilled, or I could luck out and mabe this 360 has a flywheel with it. Thanks again everyone. Fish

I looked up the jegs flywheels. They offer 2 from mopar performance. The 71-92 year 360 flywheel shows a picture of a flywheel with NO holes drilled in it. It looks like a stock flywheel. The 93 and newer 360 shows the flywheel with the 3 holes drilled in it. The 71-92 flywheel is still advertised as being for a externally balanced 360. Now it makes me wonder if I need to drill any holes in

I have a NP 4 speed. Im sure my engine is just burning oil. You can see puffs of smoke. I put new valve seals in her recently as it really smoked on start up. There is no major oil leakage either. Its burning it all up. Fish

Page 49 of Mopar Engines 9th edition says "Cast crankshaft engines are externally balanced and therefore should be balanced with the offset vibration damper" 73 318s had cast cranks. I dont know if this 318 in my truck is a truck or car 318. There was a 318-3 forged truck crankshaft. I dont know what years or what models it was in. I will check what vibration damper is on my truck

OOOPPS!!! Driving my 65D100 last weekend it went through 4 quarts of oil after only 180 miles! I knew it burned oil, but not that much. After slowing down to exit the interstate I began to hear the hard knocking sounds of an engine starving for oil! What a nightmare! I coulnt here these sounds at speed due to the windtunnel like noise my 45 year old cab makes, drowns out everything! Well, I

Heres what I did. I dropped the pan and inspected. Not one bit of junk found in pan or filter, a slight bit of sludgy fluid at the bottom only. No specs or chunks of metal. Looked very clean. I put in a new filter and 6 quarts of ATF + 4 fluid. I did not use mopar brand though. I did not flush. so far after a week, shifting fine, no problems. Im happy. Hope this lasts. thanks for all t

OK, There is a lot of info on line about flushing the trans. Easy to do at home. Just pull the tranny cooler exit line, install a hose on cooler, put in a pan and run the engine in neutral and let the tranny pump do the work. As the fluid is pumping out, replace new in dipstick tube. Easy. The question is should I do this? Most of the posts say if the fluid isnt burnt looking and miles are

Can you flush it yourself or do you have to go to a shop. I just asked the local place down the street. They dont flush and still they want over 100 bucks to change fluid. I think thats pricey. Have you ever put ford type F in your trannys? Thats recommended if you are putting it in high stress applications such as drag raceing. Has more friction, I think.

That truck came with the sun porch option. Also it needs some taillights. I love fire trucks. My M-37 was used as a brush truck by a firedepartment way back in the 70s and 80s. Fish

Im not a tranny expert so maybe you guys can direct me. Its for my 99 Durango. She has 135,000 miles on her. Runs perfect. The tranny is starting to act funny. It will want to windout higher than normal from 2 to 3rd gear going easy on the throttle. It will go up to 2400 RPM before she shifts. The disturbing part is once in a while going from 2nd to 3rd you will feel the trans slip totally
