Hope somebody knows the answer to this. Ive got a 67 D100 with a /6 - 727 combo. Ive got a 64 D100 with a poly - 727 combo. Will the 67 /6 bolt directly to the 727 in the 64? I would prefer to swap the engines only and leave the trannies where they are, since one is a 2 cable and the other a single

Poly bells are different than LA bells.
I emailed a buddy of mine who's raced Super Stock for eons & has built a few Slut Sex, I mean Slant Six drag cars. His experience goes back a long ways. His reply:
"The transmissions don't interchange from series to series. A Slant 6 trans won't bolt to a V8 & vice versa. The cables are particular to their transmissions.
Transmissions can be swapped from car to car, but only by using the appropriate shifter, but they're still mating only to their original engine series: /6 to /6, LA V8 to LA V8 etc. because the bolt patterns & bellhousings are particular to their engines only.
