relining shops are in every bigger city. they mostly service the medium and heavy duty truck world but they also do lots of shoe relining for older vehicles. when you get into the front brakes remmeber to NOT mix up the drums. the drums are machined when they are on the hub. also if you get your shoes relined the relining shop has an arcing madhine. you will need to bring in your drums when you bring the shoes in and when they get done installing new linings they will arc the shoes to fit your drums precisely. it makes a big difference expecially with the style of brakes on the front. this was standard practice back in the days before disk brakes were common. And when you install the front brakes you must read the manual on how to adjsut them. there are 4 cams, 2 per shoe and adjusting is critical to good perfromance. it will stop on a dime if done correctly.
the design is not like later brakes shoes designs. the front brakes are called non servo which means the shoes do not float around on springs and self center. they are anchored in place bythe cams used to adjsut them. So if adjustment is off you wont get good stopping power. its no big deal but does take some focus to get it right.
