Details eh, ok here's a detail. The slip joint in the column is not for "bump steer". It is to keep from shoving the column up and down vertically. Without the slip joint, a bump would NOT cause the wheels to move right or left, so it would continue to track as it was.
Bump steer can only happen if the geometry changes between the gear box and the wheels. Not between the gear box and the steering wheel.
Ben, how can u have a slip joint at the tie rod end? Such a joint would allow the wheel to flop back and forth w/o control, no?
