I'll be out West in Montana and Wyoming enjoying the sights in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks during the first week of September. If there are any Sweptline folks near enough to have a cup of coffee, lunch, etc. with..... let me know. Maybe we can set something up. John

In post '71 Utiline trucks, there was a provision for the fuel filler tube. This was normally on the left side in front of the rear wheel. In later years of the Utiline box, the floors were steel. The Utiline box design, in general, was the same from '54 [?] through '84 [?] when it was phased out. John

QuoteMoGas It is a slant six 4 speed truck right now. I still have the RV that is the donor for the engine and tranny. Should I cut the frame of the RV to get the mount brackets? What should I keep before the scrap man comes? Is the 62 park brake on the output of the tranny? I don't know if the frame cross member from that RV will work. You'll have to take some measurements. QuoteMoGas So I just picked up a '62 stepside short bed D100. I also have a 360/727 combo out of a '78 motorhome. As you may have suspected, I'd like to put the 360 and 727 in the truck. Is this an easy swap? What issues may I run into? Thanks, Dave Howdy Dave, If your Utiline is currently a manual tranny truck, you'll have to cut out the bell housing cross member. T

QuoteMoparNorm Thanks John! As you can see, we are still up, this morning. The amount of last minute emails and appeals to me has been pretty cool. So I'm mulling over a few suggestions. Norm, Your mulling sounds appealing! If there's a way to keep it going... we'd all be happy. John

Norm, Thanks for everything you've done to support all us Sweptline enthusiasts! If it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have met and made friends with many of the participants. Meeting MoPar Tina, yourself and Dave was the highlight of our visit to California that year! Your site has played a major role in my hobby. I completely understand and agree with your desire to re-

QuotePwrWgnDrvr Hard to compare a 318/2.94 to a slant6/3.23 I thought a good deal on the 318/2.94 vs 225/3.23.... and you're right. I tried dividing each displacement by the corresponding ration.... not good. I hoped to see more encouraging results through some cross-multiplication but, alas, another disappointment! I don't know where I'm going with this..... And math w

QuotePwrWgnDrvr Hard to compare a 318/2.94 to a slant6/3.23 I think Gordo is using a Poly. That Poly along with a 3.23 ratio would be just fine in my opinion. You could start out in 2nd with no worries. DTA headers along with a nice dual set up run clear to the rear bumper with a cross over pipe would be "the cat's meow" John

Sorry to hear of your health issues. Without pics of the rust prone areas, I'd take a stab in the dark and say it might be worth $2000-$3000 with those extra axles. Pictures are worth a thousand words and possibly a thousand extra bucks in your wallet. John

Gordo, I redid my '65 D100 a few years back. It had a Slant 6/A745 3spd and a 3.91 gear. I threw in a '68 LA318, NP435 [6.61 granny] and swapped out the 3.91 with a 2.94. Low is still a bit low.... but I can get a few more mph out of it. When I'm cruising in 4th.... the 2.94 gear chunk is great. John

I have a 489 in a '71 D100. As far as a 489 in a '66 or '67 D100..... I haven't come across one. The 741 & 742 housings are most common.... 742 being the best of 'em all IMHO. John
