Ron, i made my own bracket to mount the express box. the barebones box would be more than enough for my truck... and probably most trucks here. anyway, it is a complete harness - it includes the chassis, under dash, gauges, engine, headlights, etc... i also purchased the grounding kit, fuel pump relay, tail light plugs, and many small parts. i went with the pertronix as i wanted to maint

Hey Ron, I used a Ron francis wire harness for a chrysler product. It comes with provisions for mopar electronic ignition or you can use the pertronix as it wires up like points. I have mine set up to switch between the two with a simple distributor change. Anyway, what I like most about the RF harnesses is the ability to add things after the fact. I am about to put in an electric coolin

hello all, it is getting to be that time of year again - time to produce the annual Sweptline Calendar! if you have a photo of a Sweptline that is cool send it on - all it has to be is sweptline related. i really enjoy the junk yard, barn find, well considered arty, or vintage photos that people have submitted in years past. so get out your Brownies or Leica rangefinders and get sna

as mentioned before here are the big differences: trans hump is lower on a 300 and up series column hole in floor is different configuration and location Not mentioned: the column mount that the dash and column bolt to is in-board about 2 full inches on a 300 as opposed to a 100/200. outside of the subtle differences the swap is doable but you need to measure twice and cut once. thoug

Ac on is the only real issue. It is a new system running r134 with a new compressor and all normal pressure readings. I am not an AC guy so it could the issue. I don't have enough room for a pusher fan so I'll probably run dual pullers and build a new/better shroud to mount them. My Ron Francis harness has a provision for running the fan using a relay built into my fuse box and it

yeah - space is an issue with a big block. i have a "butch romig special" 4 core radiator that is setup so it fills the area in the core support leaving just enough room between the radiator and the center support of the core support for the condenser. the trans cool is below that in the gap behind the now open support slotss below the grill. here's another shot of the holes...

Quotewideblock damn dude, i like that. i tell you what, ill have a piece of old grill here when you come thru, and you can do mine the same way. Thanks. It took a bit of doing but it's about 90% metal as well I had to section the grill parts so the angled lines of the chrome grill above it matched up. It's one of those subtle mods that gives the truck "soul". I left t

yeah, my dad punched a bunch of holes in the core support to enhance the cooling. i took an old grill and 'frenched' in a section of it to clean up the look... i like the slots better than a series of holes. no one has ever commented on the slots at shows... ben

QuoteRuss We had a great visit with Ben and Hobe Monday evening, too bad some of you local guys weren't able to stop by. Ben, I hope you will bring Hobe back this way sometime, I'm sure he still has some stories that we didn't have time to hear while you were here, LOL. Nice pictorial of your trip on Facebook, BTW. Glad you made it back home safely. Your truck is a beauty,

Quotewideblock i still get a kick out of your build sheet every time i see it. the hand written "hot rod" on there is the best. apparently that was also paint-penned on the frame under the driver's door but i could not find how it looked when i scrapped the undercoating off. i may still try to wing it based on the scribble of the build sheet

Quotewideblock i cant remember where i saw it, but a while back i saw an aftermarket remake of the bushbutton controller for a newer trans. it was some gimick to make yur new mopar more classic looking. i think i saw it in mopar performance or the collectors guide, not sure now. but you could slap the numbers matching stuff (dodge didnt do that btw) in the garage out of harms way. far as the brak

I have seen the 518 conversions as well. The thing that makes me hesitant to convert it (aside from the money aspect) is the rear parking drum and push button controls. Even more important is this is the original transmission case. I like the 3.23's

good to know about the speed limits. currently i have a 742 cased 3.23 sure grip in it. i have another 742 cased sure grip with 2.76's but i think that one needs bearings. i also have a sure-grip 486 case with 3.23's. i may sell/trade it raise the money to rebuild the 2.76's. as it sits the truck will do any reasonable speed with the 3.23's - i can cruise 70+ @ about 280

yep - we drove the old truck to California - twice - back in the 70s. i remember how long the TX trip and 55 was the limit then... i drove the ALCAN one summer in an old FHP trooper car - 18,093 miles in 9 weeks. not bad for a coupla guys and a few dollars. took in the desert south west and parts of the NW as well. point is: i love road trips and Vegas in the truck would be the first it has
