Aside from a bit of weight, there is little reason to swap the 203 for a 208.Chain stretch is what will kill both, but only if used long and hard in 4 wheel drive. I will preach leave well enough alone, though I often practice overkill.

OK here are my 2 cents. If you want to do a maried np205 swap. You are going to have to find an auto tranny 1 ton Dodge 4x4 or 89-93 auto trans diesel dodge 4x4 for a donor. If you use that chevy case(worth $50-200)you will need to find some parts.. 1 a dodge 23 spline 205 input shaft(there is one on ebay), 2 the 8 bolt racetrack to round bearing retainer/adapter(good luck, but they are out t

Hi John, What you have there is an early NP 205. It has the Chevy 10 spline input shaft.Dodge used the same "race track" or "8 bolt" adapter pattern on their 205 transfer case. The Dodge ones that I have seen behind 727s use a 23 spline input so the collar that joins them is the same on both ends.I will do a little searching... No,they are off a 67 d100 that had a 383/727 combo.I would offer you the rear x member too,but I sold it a few years back. A road trip does sound like the way to go. Come on out! I'll put some coffee on.

LOL. Here is my take on it. If you want, you could just use the lower part of the 69 cross member that bolts to the frame. I have had good results drilling the bottom of the frame rail using a 1/2" drill atop a floor jack.It takes a bit of practice, but alleviates the strain of pushing up on the drill. It also gets you out from under those hot shavings. I have a set of spanners for

Hey Gordo, I'm a bit con fused. Do you mean,"Will the crossmember off the white 69 D200 fit on your 67 D100? If so, the answer is yes and no.It will work, but there are no holes bored in the 67 frame for it. Also the top portion of the 69 crossmember is rivited in. The easy way to go would be to find a 68 or older automatic truck,as that cross member is a simple bolt in. Cheers

John, The stock transfer case for your truck would be a divorced np 205 gear drive(205s are part time).Next came the huge married np203. It is full time .It has a two speed gearbox, chain drive, and a differential set hanging off the end.Next came the lightest, the married 208.It is a part time(no differential set)chain drive unit. For heavy duty use the married np 205 was used.1993 was the last y

John, If I remember correctly, you have an axle from a newer disk brake truck under the front of your truck.I have learned through experience that you cant just bolt these up to your stock springs without having far too much caster. The springs need flipped end for end.If you have newer springs it is easy.If you have stock springs the 2nd leaf needs cut back,as it interferes with the frame whe

Thanks Norm. No,I don't mind.I have road tested the truck.I have done a lot of around town and a 400 mi. trip a week ago.I LOVE the ratios and the smoothness of the married TC. I haven't had a chance to go camping yet and check out the pulling.I'm hoping to go this weekend.I was just spraying weeds in the drive and took a photo opp. while I was moving the camper out of the way.

One of the things that I couldn't stand about the close ratio tranny is that 3rd is too high to use pulling the Lewiston grade. When I have to go from 35 to 45 to 65 on a 7 percent grade pulling 6000lbs,I couldn't even get into the power band in third. With the wide ratio,no problem.Just hold it in 3rd at @ 50.

John, You can also upgrade to a 12(11 7/8)inch clutch by ordering a disk and plate from a 67-68 D or W 100/200 with a 383. It will bolt right up to your flywheel. I also prefer the wide ratio 435.I have 1 of those 12" disks that has less than 200 miles on it.I decided to scrap the 435 in my pulling rig.The Gertag tranny I am useing has a 1-1/4" input,so I couldn't use the 1" d

Yes,John, You are exactly right. Both of those trannys use a 1" 10 spline input(11 inch dia.disk for your app.).Dodge went to 23 spline in 69.I have had good service from HR Clutch. Thier # is 215 639 7150.

Work was VERY slow last month,so I had some time to do some mods to my 67 w200 crew. I have been unhappy with the ratios of the np 435 for towing.I found a Getrag G360/ np 205 combo on craigslist for cheap.I figured I would give it a go. Here are some photos...

John, I took some measurements on a couple of w200s. 1. The rear axle, from the raised out rim of the backing to the same on the other side is @56" 2. the front axle in my 67 crew cab (1993 Dana 60) measures 59" from the edge of one dust shield to the other. 3. the front axle in my 67 w200 trucks with the stock HD 44 front axle measures 61 inches from the outer ridge on the

John, You say you have been stopped by the police because they thought your truck was crabbing. I can see how they might think this from their of center prospective, but there may be nothing at all wrong with your truck. How does it drive? That is the big question.
