cooling system problems...i need some help
this is not on a dodge, but its a cooling system all the same and i am at my wits end. its on my 68 chevy (pardon my language) anyway, its a 68 bel air, 350 engine bored 30 with a mild cam, edelbrock intake and carb, and a/c, other then that there are no mods. the car came with a 327, and a/c btw. what i have done, or has been done in the last year.
new hd clutch w/8 blade a/c fan(stock for this car)
new water pump.
new upper and lower formed hoses.
factory repop fan shroud.
rebuilt harrison 3 row radiator(this is the factory rad for the car).
high flow 160 and 180 t-stat have both been tried.
engine was hot tanked when it was rebuilt, and it only has about 11k miles on it, so coolant passages should be wide open.
all factory gaskets and filler panels are in place to direct air flow.
confirmed that the pulley set up is correct for this car.
a/c system was completely rebuilt.
checked timing, it is set at 10 advanced.
checked carb, not running lean.
verified fuel pressure at 6psi constant, once again not running lean.
it doesnt have hedders or anything else that would increase under hood temps beyond bone stock level.
but yet it is still running way too hot (200-225 range). everything checks out, nothing i can find is wrong, but it still is running hot. these big barges are notorious for running cool even in the worst temps. i am about ready to slip a stick of dynamite under the seat and walk away. i have faught with this thing for 2 weeks now with absolutly no improovment. even tried 2 different flex fans with no improovment. what am i missing?? i need a fresh set of minds and ideas, because i am plum out.
so what say ye oh wise ones????
