Re: cooling system problems...i need some help
no evidence, even in a compression test that i have a blown head gasket. no bubbles in the rad, or oil or water where it dont belong.
havent done a pressure test on the coolant system, what would that show??
i have good flow.
coolant is mixed 75 water 25 coolant with water wetter. reason for the non 50/50 mix is the water wetter said the lower the coolant ratio the better it works. it acted the same with the 50/50 mix.
cap is correct, fairly new, and tested to release at the 13psi it is rated at.
no..the t-stat isnt backwards...lol
the temp gauge is not accurate, it reads 10degrees hot at 220. but the laser thermometer we were using at the mechanics shop is calibrated and showed the temp at the t-stat housing was at 215 after just a brief drive around town. same time at the water pump inlet read 199. only a 16 degree drop thru the rad. seems like not near the drop it should be getting. when it was at 180 there was a 30 degree drop, then as the car gets hot, the drop gets less and less.
im starting to just think i need a better radiator, but it doesnt make sense the factory radiator (largest one they installed) isnt enough for a basically factory set up.
we went over air flow problems around town (thus the numerous fan swaps), but a blast down the freeway doesnt help, so that threw that theory out the door.
