I know someone who has a 1985 Dodge truck, excellent condition and only 77,000. He wants to trade it in under the cash for clunkers program...noooooooo. Don't do that to a classic like that.

Many dealers are opting out of the government run program, it seems that only 4% of dealers have been re-imbursed...imagine that, a poorly planned and ran government program....
It also steams me to see Jeep XJ's from the 80's and 90's turned in for some new pile from Japan. The vast majority of new vehicles sold under this plan are foreign cars, so how does that stimulate OUR economy by sending OUR tax money overseas???
Lastly, these C4C vehicles cannot be used for parts, they must have the engine destroyed in a manner that makes recycling the motor nearly impossible, as the saline solution impregnates the metal and and renders it contaminated.
The rest of the vehicle must be shredded, not salvaged, it's a dang shame and a temporary bump that will hurt future vehicle sales and raise the price of used cars and parts....
