I've never bought a new master cylinder, nor would I ever, as long as you can find kits to rebuild the one in your truck. The slave cylinders I have bought brand new - not rebuilt - from NAPA (just installed one last fall in my '68 D200), no problems. Only time I've ever had problems with the hydraulic clutch system is either leakage behind the master cylinder, or at the slave cylinder, causing the system to go dry when the truck sits... and breakage of the line right above the slave cylinder.
Anytime its spongy, you've got air in the system, maybe getting sucked back in at the slave cylinder, I've actually heard one sucking air before as the pedal is being returned.
NAPA rebuilds are highly questionable...
