My hood will go way past 90 degrees untill the lip of the hood finally hits the back of the hood hinge, this is how it stops. Shouldnt there be a catch somewhere in the hinge to stop it at 90 degrees? I dont think the hood was designed to go past 90 as there is a lot of weight and stress placed on

I think the reason they changed the hood opening angle is because when the 90 degree hood hinges wear, it allows the hood to contact the roof rain gutter lip and dents the hood.
Two things cause the 90deg. hood to contact the
roof gutter.... worn hinges and wind. The secondary
latch began to show up in late '67 to take "wind"
out of the equation.
