I was noticing the aggressive tires on this and assumed it was a 4WD. Anyone have an opinion on the year and model? Ok Ok . . I just thought this was a nice cheesecake pic for the old duffers here. Recycled I know, but worth the look, once again

Well, it appears we're all a bunch of old codgers here. Yeah, the joints and bones aren't like they used to be. I've had a condition in my heel for several years, where, when I get up . . I hobble across the floor like Granpa on the Real McCoys. After 30 steps or so, I'm pretty good and can go all day. . . But when I stop and sit for awhile, the pain is excruciating all over a

So I see a chart depicting the 318 series broken down thus: 318-1. . .Standard Engine. . . . . .used on D100 thru 300 series 318-2. . .Semi-Premium Engine. .used on D400 thru 600 series 318-3. . .Full Premium Engine. . .used on D400 thru 700 series What's the difference between the 3 engines?

At the risk of wearing out my welcome . . . . . A new topic to ponder . . . Cold Air Intake vs Warm Air Intake Supposedly a Cold Air Intake provides denser air, therefore providing better combustion. . . And Warm Air Intakes allow the engine to run easier and in the throttle-open position and provide better gas mileage, but at the cost of some horsepower. Between you and me . . . . I just

Thanks Gordo. I appreciate your imparting your knowledge. It's a big help. There's a lot of good guys on this board. Glad to be a member . . if only a newbie . . . And my eyes are giving me a run too. Yeah,. . . Norm'll have to get some business outta me before I'm done. He's probably in the corner right now, rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

Now That's What I'm Talkin' 'Bout, Willis! I was just going over an older post where you were talking about this. As much as I may miss a stump pulling gear . . . I think I'd rather have street gearing. I plan on softening up the ride too so it's more enjoyable, as I don't see it getting any real payload either, other than dragging shrubs and fertilizer fr

Yep on the 3.54 gear. I'm going to do a little homework on the NP445 tranny as it's all synchro. . . Although, I'm beginning to enjoy the whine in my present tranny. I could either go with the NP445 or freshen up the box I have now when that engine comes out.

4BBL for sure . . I know I was stating "Rochester" carb . . but then I went back and added "Quadrajet" to clarify. You know . . I'm not dissatisfied with the power with the 2bbl and tired old engine . . .however, I have a desire to get good performance and increase FE where I can. Long after I make a decision on carburetion and other aspects of my engine overhaul, I

I'm loving the idea of acheiving 20mpg hwy. And I'm looking fwd to getting that engine up to snuff in the not too distant future. What are your thoughts on running a Rochester Quadrajet, as that is supposed to give increased performance on hwy while not compromising performance around town, and also delivering good FE. This would end the debate on 2BBl vs 4BBL IMO? I know nothing a

Good call, thanks! I had the covers off recently, and all looked reasonably good. I didn't see any pooling or sludge. However, there is a noisy lifter that can't be quieted down, so I attribute that to lack or proper maintenance, a clogged line due to running dirty oil or using pennzoil as you have stated. I only have the problem in one chamber . . but it's definitely wor

Yeah, I plan on checking it out. But I had the covers off not too long ago and all looked reasonably normal with no pooling or sludge buildup. That, combined with the fact that all the plugs looked good save one oily one . . lends me to believe it's the guides. But, it's definitely worth a look see.

I've been digging around, and thinking about what I want to do with the poly in my '64 D200. It's old and worn and I'm getting some oil in one combustion chamber. Luckily, no smoke billowing out the tail pipe, so I'm assuming it's valve guides. Before I commit to a rebuild, I'm reading up on things I think I want to do to make this buggy more enjoyable

There wasn't a color for those years that stood out. Possibly '69 Plymouth's, Rallye Green, 44032 from Ditzler But most likely: '72/'73 Plymouth, Meadow Green, 2383 Ditzler and '70 Dodge/Plymouth, Sublime/Limelight Poly, 2128 Ditzler

Ha Ha . . I'll pass it by him. He picked up another one of these in bad shape and semi-stripped late last year. He cut the cab off and parted everything off save the delivery box section, frame, rear doors and rear fenders, and picked up the back section of a '37 PU cab from a guy back east. He's mated the back section to the front of the box to create a '37 Dodge humpback t

My neighbor has a '37 Humpback Delivery Van he's restoring. It's complete and all #'s match. He wants to have the old long 6 and trans gone through but doesn't want to send it out to just anyone. Do any of you So Cal boys know of a good dependable shop that works on the older stuff? thx, Jeff And excuse me if I'm not using this forum correctly.

Thanks Terry and the rest of you guys up there for the info and discussion. I'll get around to posting other pics of it. Haven't had a camera since I left it in Pompeii last summer. In any event, it was nice talking with you guys. Presently, I picked up a "year correct" set of California license plates with a '64 sticker on it. Waiting for my YOM "Year of Make"

Thanks Terry: Good info. I really appreciate it. . . I'm a typical guy . . I know how to turn a wrench and get all in it . . .but when it comes to the technical stuff . . my eyes tend to glaze over. I poked around on the web and found plenty of talk about the NP445 . . however, nothing about it's compatibility with '64 Poly. Do you be chance have any knowledge about this at your

Thanks, wideblock: I've considered changing the gear in the rear. And that'll be the most cost effective route for sure and will put more road behind me in 4th. . . .but that 1st gear . . I doubt it'll be much better. It's a friggin stump puller . . and then 2nd . . wouldn't that be pretty tall?. Of course I could try it first before I monkey with the tranny. What are

Yeah, but that 1st gear , , gad . . it's absolutely unnecessary unless I plan to put it back to work(which I'm not). . And when I'm going down the road in 4th, . . I've caught myself several times looking for another gear. That being said . . .with the lack of soundproofing and that old truck suspension . . . tooling down an old hwy @ 50mph is about perfect. But in a perfect w

Thanks, little doug: I want to rebuild that poly . . and I'm not sure what to do about the trans. I know swapping it out will bring better benefits, but I prefer to look into doing something about the gearing so it remains, fairly unviolated. Jeff

Yeah, well . . under the hood doesn't show well . . let's just say that some lipstick was slapped on that pig. That is one tired poly in there. Cams are almost flat . . can barely breathe, but dependable and does not smoke. Interior is clean, but you know . . they're pretty basic. Not much going on. I pulled the door handles and window cranks recently and am lubricating the works. A
