I've been digging around, and thinking about what I want to do with the poly in my '64 D200.
It's old and worn and I'm getting some oil in one combustion chamber. Luckily, no smoke billowing out the tail pipe,
so I'm assuming it's valve guides. Before I commit to a rebuild, I'm reading up on things I think I want to do to make
this buggy more enjoyable. Upgrading carburetion is a consideration. But is it going to make much difference?
Regarding performance, I'm looking at whether I want to toss the old carb and 2bbl intake for a 4bbl intake and carb,
keeping an eye out for a weiand intake etc. But upon reading posts in other forums, there's the thought that a 4bbl
won't really buy me much for the $$ invested. Supposedly a 2bbl is just fine and provides good low end torque,
where a 4bbl will provide better high end performance.
OK, which one's more important, and is that an accurate depiction? Wouldn't it make sense to take that factory intake
and have it polished to reduce flow restriction? That would increase performance. Top that off with a set of headers?
What are the advantages of dumping the $$ in a 4BBL setup.
Any thoughts on the subject?
