This is sad news to wake up to. Checked my email first thing this morning and read Russ's note. I feel like I've lost an old friend, actually we all have. We still have Terry but some of the excitement will be gone knowing that he and JimmieD won't be verbally sparring over some comment made by the other. I guess it's fitting that he was in his Town Wagon when he went out. RIP

On 69-71 Sweptlines both arms are the same, and park to the right side. On 61-68 models the wipers park pointing toward the center so the right side arm is curved opposite to the left side arm. Do yours still use a nut to hold the arm on or have they been changed to the slip-on style. I have a few of the bolt on style Sweptline wiper arms. Email me at ashley

Hey Russ, We enjoyed the visit, as usual. Wish we could have had longer but we enjoyed the time we did have. This was the third visit and hope to see you again when you are back for your next reunion. Hello to everyone. I drop back over here once in a while to see if the old group is still around, and also to see what feud JimmieD and Terry have going on, LOL. My bro-in-law still has my old

I suspect from the looks of it the freon was gone a long time ago. It has no belts on it so that's a good indicator that it quit working. However, if it's all intact I would try vacuuming the system and see if it will hold vacuum. From the age of it it would have had R12 in it. Usually if it has been converted to R134 it should have adapters for 134 hose connections. If (doubtful) it ho

Do you feel any vibrations if you rev the engine up to about 2500 to 3000 RPM and hold it steady at that speed with the tranny in neutral (or park if automatic)? If you have vibration while the truck is sitting still that would point to engine or tranny.

Hello Guys, I don't have a Sweptline anymore but I still like to lurk here sometimes. My bro-in-law took my old truck to a couple of the local shows there in LaFayette, Ga where he lives and took 1st place in the four wheel drive category. What's wrong with this picture? He's got two large trophies on his mantel and I have a parts pile in my garage. Now I know how Norm feels LOL.

If you sell the Sport Fury and the van does that mean your Sweptline will be your daily driver? I know you aren't selling the Swept also, LOL.

I ran into that one Friday night at about 11:00 when I was replacing a 318 with a 360 in a 77 Dodge van. I wanted it running the next day so I improvised, LOL. If you don't particularly care about what it looks like and you have enough washers and spacer material you can use the 318 mount.

Russ Roth will be here for his annual trip South and we are planning on getting together on Saturday, April 30th at my house. All you guys who are within driving distance are invited. Sweptline ownership not required (since I don't have one anymore, LOL. I'll furnish the refreshments and eats so all you have to do is show up. Anytime about 10:00 or later Saturday morning is fine. Russ, definitely let me know when you will be here, and be sure to make time to stop by. I'll even let you see what a torn apart 57 Cheby looks like. Maybe we can get the "usual suspects" together again for some more burgers and brews.

"MoparNorm wrote: “ known for their “puck” spacer “lift.” They did the same thing for the Liberty. The kits are crude, hard riding and, frankly, not very good, This is not a suspension lift, it is a spacer. The spacer forces the spring up and changes the factory spring rate and roll center, and it's pure hack and whack...” But what is your real opinion, LOL ?

I suspect that your new (old) pump was dirty inside and when you started using it it stired up the trash. You might get it cleaned out by flushing it out. Remove the return hose and block the canister outlet. Put the return hose into a container and fill the reservoir, and turn the wheels back and forth until you flush the system. It takes a little bit of fluid so have at least a couple of quarts

When I put the 440 in my truck back in 2000 I bought the first set of 440 mounting brackets that he made. They were perfect and exact of originals. I had some phone conversations with him then and he was very friendly and seemed to be a straight-up guy. I hope he hasn't changed as I have recommended Imperial Services to a couple of people.

Shawn, Here's a pic of the hinges. They are opened to their max travel so you can see how far the hood will open to. These came from my 70 Parts truck.

Ya' gotta love this forum. Lots of comedians lurk here, LOL. I think the Sweptline community has a better sense of humor than the C.... (you know, the C word) forum that I frequent now. When built the 440 for my truck in 2001 I installed a MP ignition with an orange box. The box failed in less that a year. I replaced it with a new orange box and it's still on the truck and working go

You guys must be talking about pre-69 trucks. After that the guage was electric and used a sending unit, so there wasn't any hose.

Quote68 Fish Hey guys, I like it when you dont all agree. It makes me think for my self. It would be far worse if everyone said yes and you never got the other side of the picture. Makes it kind of entertaining also Russ, Im enterested in those hinges. Shoot me a price with shipping please. Are they the 90, 75, 60, or 40 degree hinges???? Fish Fish, You are second in line for

"What sort of angle does it "settle" at when it's the same as that pic, Russ? 45*, 60*, 90*?" I don't have any idea and the truck is now 125 miles away.

QuoteJimmieD Thanks, Russ! This is really bugging me because of my '69. What bugs me is the '69 was just your garden variety Dodge truck, low mileage, fairly well maintained by the state or feds & nothing wrong with hinges. Also to my ragged memory all my Swept hoods did this, or else I'd know that some do, some don't, just like I've learned other stuff about these

There's a tab on the later hinges that limits the hood opening. I don't know why they added the tab to the hinges since they touted the ninety degree opening as a good thing. There isn't any way to defeat this tab and open the hood farther. Here's a pic.

I've suspected that their reports were slanted all along. Frankly, I think they take payoffs to endorse a product.

I never had a bad Mopar vehicle but it seems that they always got bad reviews in Consumer Reports rag and other "consumer' propaganda publications. A few days ago I read an online article titled "ten best cars and ten worst cars in 2010", with credit given to CR and Forbes mags. As usual the Lexus was rated the best (at $65K). There was a Ford and a GM in the alledged top ten,

Nice score, that car looks great. Now you should drop over to the AllPar website and find the forum for that class of Mopar. If you have any questions or have any problems you will probably find the answer there.

Kyle, I think someone at the tag office is giving you wrong information. Ga started issuing titles in 1963 and you can still get a title transferred for any car that originally had one, assuming that the seller has a title. They will discourage you from transferring a title for a vehicle over 25 years old but will do it if you insist. My 69 Dodge truck had been through four owners, all registere

Hello Jim, That has to be a difficult decision to sell it after having it this long. Wish I had the $$$ and the space to keep it, I'd love to have it myself. I had better go buy some lottery tickets so I can get it and Kyle's truck also, LOL. I'm spending a lot of time at my F-I-L's house near you lately. I've made a note of your phone number and will try to give you a c

QuotePaul Cook in Kempner, TX I would like to look at your truck, but I can't get access to "sweptline" site. Does anyone else think that having access to this site should be good for both? I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. Are you saying that they should be combined, or are you saying that we should only be allowed to visit one or the other?

I bought a new wiring harness for my current project from E Z Wiring, in Florida. www.ezwiring.com The had the best price and the harness looks good. It has a fuse panel that uses the bayonet style fuses and is available with different numbers of circuits to accomodate a/c, power windows, etc. It's not a custom harness but doesn't cost like one either. It comes with a detailed instru

John, I don't know how much it would cost. My zip is 30044, you might go to the UPS or Fedex website and find out. I don't have any idea how much it weighs.
