User IP addresses are not visible all the way and not everyone's shows up. Why is that? Also, user emails are defaulted to be hidden. Perhaps it should be defaulted to be shown and if a user wants privacy, they can figure out how to change their settings...

We have 3 basic columns in "threaded" and 4 columns in "boarded". I think there's enough room for another column in both formats and we can call it "Views. This would indicate how many clicks that particular thread received (in board format) and how many that particular threaded response got in thread mode. In case anyone was wondering how to switch from thread to bo

Phorum management should be able to edit in perpetuity. Lowly users like me? An hour seems reasonable. A day is super generous!! More than a day could invite trouble...

There are phishers that send emails that look like emails sent from paypal and ebay. As long as you don't click to paypal from an email and instead go directly to paypal.com for maintenance then it is very unlikely that you can be hacked. It may be inconvenient to have to manually transfer money from a paypal account to you bank so perhaps you could just do it every 2 months or so. Howeve

I am suggesting an option that allows phorum participants to become a paid subscriber and be able to pay/renew at the phorum. It can be linked to paypal. It might bring in more revenues if A) everyone was identified as a paid user. B) there was a clear easy way to collect from the phorum website itself. The way it is, people once in a while 'feel' they should contribute something withou

Why not set the default to be flat/flat and clue in the entrenched portion of regulars as to how they can change their setting to flat/thread. Their cookies will remember their preferences and keep it that way. This way new visitors will understand and enjoy immediately. Remember, a flat board will fit the entire thing on one page. Makes it easier for first time visitors!!

This is nice being able to see all the responses above the comments that I'm typing now. This allows the user to reference all comments while typing their response. Excellent!!

I vote for board style default with threaded option. This way we can keep some of us old farts happy and not alienate newbies. Newer users will appreciate a board style (clean/tidy) and not be overwhelmed with so many threads with their sub-thread responses visible. Currently it appears to be a hybrid of sorts. BoardThread. The responses still are visible though taking up screen space. Phran

There's no reason a pic needs to be bigger than say 50k. The attached picture is under 30k and is large enough to see all the details. A 50k picture should load in 2-3 seconds on a dialup. The eye can only recognize 72 dpi on a screen. More than that is a waste of bandwidth. If someone were printing a color brochure then more dpi would be needed... We're just looking at pics on a screen

Have you guys tried using Firefox? At work I notice that Firefox is much faster than IE on my work Windows PC. I find this site loads very fast also using Firefox on my 7 year old Macintosh computer with home DSL.

The threaded style as on this page vs. the current forum in use will require 2 or more pages with normal use. If we use the Board style for the new phorum, everything is neat, tidy and fast to download and fits on 1 page. We can see the post, number of views, number of posts in it, and the last nut that added a comment with date stamp. All topics easily seen on one page. If interested, we can

When visiting Norms site, I've always used "board style" for my display on the older forum. So the concept of the thread moving up after a new post is familiar to me. I'm having trouble however seeing the whole thread before adding a comment. On the board style, all the comments were visible at one click and your comment box was below. That was very nice.
