No need to guess on the dry weight. It's been published. The 1/2, 3/4 ton and 1 ton ton monikers are NOT the actual carrying capacity... they are merely nods to 60 some years ago when they did correspond. I stand by my calculations. Obviously one has to pay attention to spring weight. Springs notwithstanding, the axle weights combined would equal total weight of truck and cargo. don&

Using Soopernaut's VIN tag example: Rear axle capacity = 3,600 Front axle capacity = 2,500 Total CAPACITY (TC) of truck = 6,100 lbs.* Now subtract the factory dry weight of the truck say 3,800 for a long bed from the TC. Then subtract another 500 lbs for weight of driver gas, oil and whatnot from the TC. You are left with a payload capacity of of the truck... how much more weight yo

Had a great time last year! I hope I can make it again this year... working out the schedule. I have since added posi front and rear AND power steering! I'm gonna take another crack at that mud pit. I made it through last year but not as fast as I would have liked.

I concur with Soopernaut. I have yet to ever see the vehicle weight listed on a VIN tag. Just capacities for axles and springs. The weight question seems solved anyway. Read up the thread... My book shows his 1970 D100 weighing 3,477 lbs for a short bed 318 and 3,822 lbs for a long bed 318. Subtract weight accordingly for all the missing metal in the floor boards, cab supports, fenders and

Hang on to the Cert card. Perhaps make an entry in the registry and offer it to anyone (in the description) trying to register their rig of the same VIN at some point in the future.... ?

Here's some info that should help you as detailed in my book "Dodge Trucks 1917-2002" by John Gunnell. 1970 D100 Sweptline shortbed cost $2,667. weighs 3,477 lbs* 1970 D100 Sweptline longbed cost $2,704. weighs 3,822 lbs* Of that D100 series, they made 15,978 shorty's and 38,857 long'uns. :-) *based on a 318 v8

You can mail it to Demon Sizzler. He just does carbs for Mopars... specialized in Thermoquads but can probably handle the little carter! He did a carb for me last year and provided very good communication and service. Best of luck...

My 318 69 W200 weighed 4,400 lbs after bumpers, seat and bed removed. It originally came from Washington. When you bring a truck into California they make you go to a weigh station to weigh it and charge you yearly on your registration based on weight.

Lifestyle Era Dodge trucks Gordon has a pretty good site covering 72-93's and is a friend to this phorum as well. Ramcharger Central is a decent website. It covers(74-93)which is mechanically the same as pickup truck but with an SUV body. g'luck

Awesome John! Save the paperwork (old registrations) from the California DMV that links those black plates to that VIN. If the truck ever winds up back on the West Coast the owner may need to prove (with DMV documents) that the plates belong. The new fancy intersection auto red light cameras don't pick up the black plates nor the blue plates well and they want them gone according to one DMV

VIN 1381299216 Also shows as 2 wheel drive (D300) not W300. The rear Dana 70 ratio reads 4.8 on the data plate. Not bad but slow goin on the highway. That 4 headlight front end w/that grill was correct for years 62 to early 65. Gauge cluster / interior is also 62-early 65. Seems like a true 63. I had a truck once that clearly showed on the VIN data plate and title to be a certain ye

Where are you located? What is a deer lease truck? Price varies across America. If you're looking for a value, well, we'll need more info on your truck. No rust? Any mechanical gremlins? A decent running, no rust serviceable Power Wagon should fetch at least $2k. The 383 is a nice option and desirable in the Power Wagons. I sold a 383 powered presentable 68 W200 last year with some

I thought the custom Power wagon emblems looked cool. I do personally prefer the stock ones but I appreciate the work that went into the custom ones. Moreover, they indicate the level of detail that went into the truck and demonstrates the ability that the builder has... or the tools he has ;-) The engine/trans is awesome!! The whole driveline is amazing and with great detail. Well, I think

Does anyone know if a switch for a 62 is the same as one for a 63-68? My parts catalog covers 63-68 only. I believe he got the part number from me. I did point out the possible year problem but does anyone know for sure if they are compatible?

My parts catalog is for years 1963-1968... this may not be accurate for 1962. My book shows the switch as code 23-67-160 (for easy lookup) and part number 2225 597. Look at the second diagram to find the appropriate switch mounting nut, circuit breaker and switch plate. -FrankyB

Government inefficiency: Take perfectly good vehicles off the road, Crush them, over pay for them then NOT limit the new purchase to American badged autos!! WOW! That like creating a "bust windows across America" program to support the glass industry!! Stupid... just to save 2 mpg is many cases? The havoc it creates on the environment to manufacture a Prius is far worse than drivi

All this theory talk is rat'ling... I think Terry was just baitin' ya. If your truck is truly exempt and you never wear them unless you are being pulled over then why don't you just plain remove them? The questionable thing is if they are there and you don't use them you MIGHT be guilty. If they are just not there and there is no sign of them ever being in there then you

Out here in L.A., we have many cheap auto parts stores like AutoZone. They all seem to carry the cheapest stuff from China. The NAPA store close to my house gives you a choice. Cheap Chinese or better American which naturally costs more. I am lucky that the counter guy at my NAPA is a retired Chrysler employee with lots of patience for guys like me!! Employees make a big difference with our ex

OK... It is now confirmed via your VIN. You have a 1970 model as I originally thought. I ran your VIN though the sweptline registry and here's what it shows: Serial Number E25BB0S127645 Make Dodge Model E2 - W200 Body Style 5 - Crew Cab with Utiline box; Compact Mid-Line Wagon Gross Vehicle Weight B - 6,001 lbs to 10,000 lbs Engine B - 225-1 Slant Six 2V Year 1970 Plant
