Well, this subject has also been previously discussed here in extreme depth. It is apparent from your post that u are not completely familiar with the circuit, nor the alternator.
First and foremost, THERE ARE NOT TWO FIELD WINDINGS IN THE LATER ALTERNATOR. THERE IS ONLY ONE
Secondly, the name of the circuit design is the "ISOLATED FIELD" alternator. This is DIRECTLY FROM THE FSM. It is totally incorrect to call it a "dual field" alternator.
The difference between the two systems is simply this:
The old style circuit has the regulator between the battery and the alternator positive field terminal. The negative terminal is connected directly to ground thru the alternator case.
Like this: Batt+ > Reg > Field > Ground
The new style circuit has the regulator between the alternator negative field terminal and ground. The positive terminal is connected directly to the battery.
