I'm getting close to firing up an A318 Poly that I put in my '68 D100. As I'm using a '70 cab, I'm also then using the later wiring harness. The alternator is original equipment to the Poly ['66 vintage] and is a single field. My wiring has what I'm assuming to be

John, my 2 FSMs for 70/71 do not seem to show the 2 field wire alternator system in the wiring diagrams. But, I know for a fact, the orange wire goes to one of the field terms on the alt. The red and orange also both go to the same terminal on the ballast resistor, on the end opposite the distributor. Usually the orange is connected to the alt field lug closest to the main output bolt lug. Clear as mud now?
