the car wont be touched for a while. even if i wanted to i dont have the financials at the moment to do anything. as far as owner ship documents, i have the clear new mexico title and registration in my name. to rescue the ride from impound i had to present ownership documents, so i went to the dmv and got a new title, thus cancelling the copy he has. you are right, (assuming he keeps records) he does have all the papers to proove it was sold and paid in full. it was a cash deal, so there arent any check stubs, but on our contract i signed and dated each payment made and gave it to him when it was all said and done. in nm there is no paper work that follows the title as of yet, you sign it and they are off. now there is a paper that states you sold the car and who bought it that you can turn in, but its not required and in this case i didnt do (normally i would). i have the papers here filled out, i just never made it to the dmv to turn them in. im waiting on the info from johnny law on what my rights are, and how to do this on the up and up. i do know i can only charge up to $20 a day for storage, since im not a bussiness, as well as any expenses involved. it wont take long for that to add up to more then the car is worth. i made sure to keep all the papers with the title to proove my expendatures, time etc involved in all this mess. all his stuff is just as it was recovered (all over the car) and will stay that way untill i find out for sure what my rights are. im hoping he just doesnt show up and i can part the thing out. it wont take but one day and a 30 pack for me and 2 of my friends to make this car dissappear , after that im real good at playing stupid, ask my wife...lolol
