The -3 was only found in the trucks and some call it the "industrial" engine, although severe duty is more correct. The later cars had hydraulic lifters, so I'm thinking they were more likely -2's but they may well have been -1's.Quote

Apparently they'd be looking at economy on the -2 & -3 and a better torque curve.
Hmmm... that would lead one to imagine that the -2 & -3 would have been the preferred engine for trucks & heavier vehicles, for stronger bottom end and load-carrying fuel mileage, with the -1 in stock form leaning more to HP? I wonder if the -1 was the series chosen for factory 4bbl & 3 deuces builds?
